Job Description

We are seeking a multi-talented and dynamic Director of Operations and Marketing to oversee and optimize the operational and marketing functions of our growing startup. This unique role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution, ensuring that both our day-to-day operations and marketing initiatives run smoothly and drive business growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both marketing tactics and operational efficiency and be comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment. This job description reflects the multi-faceted nature of the role, where the Director of Operations and Marketing would need to balance operational efficiency with strategic marketing efforts, essential for growing a startup.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Operational Strategy and Execution:
    • Develop and implement efficient operational systems to streamline business processes and improve productivity across the company.

    • Oversee day-to-day operations including HR, legal, finance, and logistics, ensuring effective resource allocation, team coordination, and operational efficiency.

    • Lead operational planning, including budget management, vendor relationships, and logistics coordination.

    • Identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, implementing solutions that enhance scalability.

  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between departments like sales, marketing, product development, and customer support.

    • Recruit, train, and mentor staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Metrics and Reporting:
    • Set and monitor key operational performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure that the company is achieving its business goals.

    • Regularly report on operational performance and provide recommendations for optimizing processes.

Marketing:

  • Marketing Strategy and Planning:
    • Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies to increase brand awareness, lead generation, and customer acquisition.

    • Create and oversee integrated marketing campaigns across digital channels (email, social media, content marketing, etc.), as well as offline channels when appropriate.

    • Ensure that marketing efforts are aligned with the overall business strategy and revenue goals.

  • Content and Brand Management:
    • Develop and maintain the company’s brand voice, ensuring consistency across all marketing materials and communication channels.

    • Oversee content creation, including website management, blogs, product collateral, and other marketing materials.

  • Lead Generation and Performance Tracking:
    • Implement data-driven marketing campaigns that generate qualified leads for the sales team.

    • Track and analyze marketing performance, using metrics such as website traffic, conversion rates, and customer acquisition cost (CAC), making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.

Job requirements

As our Director of Operations and Marketing, you should have:

  • Experience:
    • 6+ years of experience in operations, marketing, or a related leadership role, ideally within a startup, campaign, or high-growth environment.

    • Proven experience managing operations and marketing simultaneously, with a track record of optimizing processes and driving successful marketing initiatives.

  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Deep understanding of marketing strategies, including digital marketing, lead generation, and brand development.

    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and improve business outcomes.

    • Proficiency with marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot, Google Analytics) and operational software (e.g., project management tools like Jira, Asana, or Monday).

  • Personal attributes:
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to tackling challenges.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
    • Strong communicator and collaborator, with the ability to align diverse teams around common goals.
    • Adaptable and open to new ideas, with a proactive approach to process improvement.
  • It would be great if you had:
    • Experience in politics, campaigns, or labor organizations.
    • Experience using HubSpot for sales and marketing tracking

Salary and Benefits

Salary and title commensurate with experience. Salary starting at $120,000 annually.
